John L. Wright

John is an associate with Schafer | Thomas. He received his law degree from Southern Methodist University (J.D.), his Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of Denver (LL.M.) and his Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (B.S.). He is admitted to practice before the state bar in both Colorado and Florida and has been in private practice since 1999.

He is a former federal judicial law clerk to the Honorable William R. Mullins, United States Administrative Law Judge. His areas of practice include mergers and acquisitions, corporate taxation, commercial transactions and aviation transactions and taxation. He brings a unique perspective to the firm, with a significant background as defense counsel in commercial and employment litigation. He has tried cases in both federal and state court, as well as before the National Safety Transportation Board, Merit Systems Protection Board and Department of Transportation.

John is a member of the Colorado State Bar (Taxation Section) and the Denver Bar Association. He is an AOPA panel attorney, and belongs to the Forum on Air and Space Law of the American Bar Association, the National Business Aircraft Association, the Lawyer-Pilot’s Bar Association, and the National Transportation Safety Board Bar Association.

He also holds a commercial pilot license and is a certified flight instructor.
