Susan D. Maez
Susan Maez joined Schafer|Thomas, PC as an associate in 2002. She was named a Shareholder and a Director in 2006.
Ms. Maez practices in the areas of estate planning, wealth preservation planning, trust administration and probate. She works closely with clients and their advisors to develop and implement a plan for the management and preservation of the client’s assets in the event the client becomes incapacitated, as well as plan for the ultimate disposition of the client’s estate upon death.
Prior to her association with the firm, Ms. Maez advised closely-held business owners and other high net worth individuals on various estate planning, wealth preservation, and estate tax reduction techniques. She also served as a Trust Officer and Vice President with a Denver bank. Ms. Maez has been in private practice in Colorado since 1991.
She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and her law degree from Golden Gate University School of Law. She is admitted to practice in both Colorado and California.
Ms. Maez resides in Broomfield, Colorado with her husband and daughter, where she is actively involved with a variety of community organizations including serving as a board member of the Bal Swan Children’s Center and President of the Broomfield Library Friends Executive Committee. In addition to spending time with her daughter, Ms. Maez also enjoys golfing, hiking and skiing.
